Overview

BIT 9500 Serum Substitute has been developed for use in applications where a culture medium of defined composition is required. This product contains pre-tested batches of bovine serum albumin, insulin and transferrin (BIT) in Iscove’s MDM. It can be used to prepare serum-free media formulations for methylcellulose-based colony assays or during in vitro expansion of human or mouse hematopoietic progenitors.

In addition, it can be used to support the generation and culture of dendritic cells as well as for optimal detection of hematopoietic progenitors from in vitro hematopoietic differentiation of mouse embryonic stem cells (ESCs), and to expand hybridoma cell lines under serum-free conditions.
