5-Fluorocytosine is a fluorinated analog of cytosine. 5-FC is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as an antifungal agent used for the treatment of Candida and Cryptococcus. Lately with the development of gene therapy, 5-FC has been introduced as a prodrug in combination with the cytosine deaminase suicide gene.

DNA Synthesis Inhibitors

InvivoGen provides DNA synthesis inhibitors. These products are FDA approved for human treatment but are suitable for research purposes only.

- 5-Fluorocytosine (5-FC) DNA Synthesis Inhibitor - Prodrug for codA, codA::upp, fcy and fcy::fur genes- 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) Thymidylate Synthase Inhibitor - Prodrug for fur, fcy::fur, upp and codA::upp genes- Ganciclovir (GCV) DNA Synthesis Inhibitor - Prodrug for HSV1-tk and EHV4-tk genes

The prodrugs 5-fluorocytosine, 5-fluorouracil and ganciclovir are relatively non-toxic compounds. Once administered, they are metabolized by their corresponding suicide genes into a highly cytotoxic metabolites.

7-Vaccination:
